Many recall the bachelor party crashing in summer 2014, where Murray gave a would-be groom in Charleston some sound, pre-nuptiual advice.
“If you have someone who you think is the one, don’t just sort of think in your ordinary mind, ‘O.K., let’s make a date. Let’s plan this and make a party and get married.’ Take that person and travel the world. Buy a plane ticket for the two of you and travel to places that are hard to go to and hard to get out of. And when you come back to JFK, when you land in JFK, and you’re still in love with the person, get married at the airport.”
Practical for that particular gentleman at that phase of the game? Probably not—but still an indelible moment chock full of seasoned life wisdom, delivered by an icon.
Two falls back, Bill did his best cocktails-and-dreams impression and took over the bar for the opening at 21 Greenpoint, a Brooklyn bistro owned by his son Homer Murray.
“He just kind of pours Slovenia Vodka into people’s glasses when they look thirsty. He’s about efficiency. Turn-and-burn,” Murray’s son told the New York Times in September 2016.
Proving there are no favorites in the Murray clan, Bill has also made a point of showing up as the ultimate super-fan for Xavier basketball games, as son Luke Murray is an assistant coach for the Musketeers.
Anytime the Big East conference power is in a heated battle, cameras always pan the crowd looking for the nervous, passionate dad—riling up the fan base, or basking in the glow of another victory.
As if that weren’t enough evidence of a movement, books have been written on the subject—The Big Bad Book of Bill Murray, The Art of Being Bill and The Tao Of Bill Murray, to name a few.
A heartfelt documentary recently saw the light of day, as well—The Bill Murray Experience, where storyteller Sadie Katz embarks on a year-long quest for a magical experience with the man, the myth, the Murray.
All of these are what we refer to as “Murray Moments”—and with William Murray so closely tied to Bill and the Murray brothers, it made sense to add another dimension to the experience, in somewhat of a crowdsourced fashion. This is BIll’s brand and these are designs inspired by influenced by the man himself.
Translation; if you’re wearing the gear, you’re one degree closer to Bill—so let’s start a movement and build a tribe.
#MurrayMoments aren’t limited to chance encounters with the man himself. For most, you have a better chance catching Bigfoot riding on the back of a unicorn, knocking down a six-pack of Zima—and that’s just fine.
Chase the ultimate dream, but enjoy the ride along the way.
Rock your William Murray gear in day-to-day settings. Wear a button down to dinner on vacation with your significant other in a foreign land and capture the moment. Sport a blazer to your next board meeting or upscale event. Make a bold shorts play for your next round of golf with friends of clients.
Create moments. Capture, tag and share them with the world across all social media platforms.
You commit to that and here’s our pledge to you; we’ll monitor the #MurrayMoments hashtag and will pull at least one monthly winner for some William Murray gear. Go next-level, blow everyone away and we’ll figure out how to top it.
We realize we have a special tribe proudly sporting this gear. It’s time to unite and build a community of like-minded folk; that unspoken bond where you see someone in WMG gear and immediately know they’re your people.
No time like the present, so let’s get this movement started today. You know the hashtag. Start sharing your #MurrayMoments.
We’re listening … and there's a good chance Bill is, too.
